Cuba’s economic growth quickened significantly in 2015, according to the latest estimates from the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.
The island’s gross domestic product grew by 4 percent in 2015, after expanding by just 1.3 percent in 2014, according to the ECLAC data.
That also represented Cuba’s highest year-over-year GDP improvement in the last six years.
Cuba’s economy is projected to grow by 4.2 percent in 2016, according to an ECLAC forecast.
